The ATHENA™ Award Program is provided by ATHENA International to encourage the opening of leadership opportunities for women. Locally, the award program is dedicated to promoting and honoring the valuable contributions being made to advance the status of women in the Buffalo Niagara region.

SPECIAL NOTE:

The Buffalo Niagara Partnership and our ATHENA® Selection Committee formally announce that the 2009 awards luncheon is being rescheduled to Wednesday, November 4, 2009. The event will take place at the Adam’s Mark Hotel from 11:30 a.m. ~ 1:30 p.m.

This date change is due to current economic conditions, especially in light of the Partnership’s several other signature events this spring.  We also are taking this opportunity to bring the ATHENA Award Luncheon back to an autumn celebration, when our schedule allows us to more widely/fully promote this high-profile award. Moreover, we’re now able to reopen the nomination process for both the ATHENA and ATHENA Young Professional Awards through Friday, July 24, 2009.
 
We expect this rescheduling to be a smooth transition, and look forward to your continuing support for and participation with ATHENA.

Received in 2008 by Ann E. Evanko, president of Hurwitz & Fine P.C., the award is presented annually to an individual in Buffalo Niagara who demonstrates support for the goals of women professionals, and provides significant and selfless assistance on their behalf.  Nominees must also demonstrate significant, measurable business/professional achievements which have produced exceptional results for their organizations.

New in 2009 – the ATHENA™ Young Professional Award, which honors an individual who is:

• An emerging leader who demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in their business or profession
• Provides valuable service by contributing time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community
• Clearly serves as a role model for young women personally and professionally
