6/11 Webisode: Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act: Updates to the PPP

The Partnership hosted a webisode to review updates to the Paycheck Protection Program and explain the Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act.
The Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act was passed by both Congress and the President. The bill modifies the current PPP program with critical and important changes designed to make it easier for businesses to receive the loan forgiveness.
Attendees heard from Steve Turner, Principal in the firm’s commercial division at The Bonadio Group and received an overview of the changes made to the current program, the benefits to businesses, and some new stipulations that employers to be aware of, such as:
- Triple the time to use your loan
- Business owners can get PPP and payroll tax deferral
- Extends the rehiring time period Provides more
- flexibility for COVID-19 impacted businesses
- New application deadlines and eligibility guidelines

The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) was a lifeline to many companies faced with the existential threat of an unknown pandemic. But the prospect of “free money” by loan forgiveness comes with ever-evolving strings – including the possibility of an audit and scrutiny by federal agencies with the jurisdiction and political will to investigate borrowers’ eligibility and use of funds.
