9/8/20 UPDATE:
The U.S. Department of Labor published guidance concerning eligibility for paid leave and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance related to the reopening of schools.
The Wage and Hour Division (WHD) released Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for workers and employers about qualifying for paid leave under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). The new FAQs explain eligibility for paid leave relative to the varied formats and schedules schools have announced as they plan to reopen, including blending in-person with distance learning. WHD is providing this information to explain the benefits and protections available under both the paid sick leave and the expanded family and medical leave provisions of FFCRA.
In addition, the Employment and Training Administration (ETA) released guidance that provides states with information regarding the eligibility of individuals who are caregivers for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) under the CARES Act.

An unusual start to the school year may leave parents – your employees – with new paid leave options. Most WNY school districts will be operating in a hybrid model with students only attending school in person a few days a week. Some are opening with full remote instruction. Your employees might be eligible for paid leave on the days their children are not physically attending school.
What does this mean for your company? What HR considerations do you need to be aware of?
Legally and logistically, you may have several unanswered questions. Join us for a presentation and get the information you need to be prepared. Experts will guide you through the future of paid leave, how these school plans can directly affect your workforce and how you can adjust to new policies.
