Manufacturing Council Hosts: CHIPS+ Impact on WNY Manufacturers

The federal CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, known as CHIPS+, was signed into law by President Biden on August 9, 2022. This new legislation directs $52 billion toward renewing the heavily outsourced U.S. semiconductor manufacturing sector and reinvigorating U.S. chip research and development activities.
CHIPS+ has the potential to reduce our country’s reliance on foreign sources while investing in a local workforce, bolstering innovation and significantly impacting the future of American manufacturing in the process.
How and when will this legislation impact Buffalo Niagara? Our business community must understand, and be prepared for, potential research, development and production incentives that will bring new work to regional employers.
At 8 am on Thursday, October 20, the Buffalo Niagara Partnership’s Manufacturing Council is hosting a virtual conversation with Isabelle Icsco, Director of International Policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, analyzing how CHIPS+ can impact Buffalo Niagara companies and our economy as a whole.
