Poloncarz, Casilio give divergent views at county exec candidates forum before business group

BUFFALO, NY (The Buffalo News) — Both candidates for the top elected position in Erie County government were asked the same questions. They were given the same amount of speaking time. And they touched on many of the same topics.
But Democrat Mark Poloncarz and Republican Chrissy Casilio couldn’t have been more different in their answers Thursday at a forum hosted by the Buffalo Niagara Partnership.
Poloncarz, a three-term incumbent, delved into the details on a number of topics, from road paving to taxes to affordable housing and workforce development. He took one of his political liabilities – his handling of the migrant crisis – and sought to spin it as a way to solve the problem of labor shortages that are often cited by business leaders.
