Position: Manager, SMART-I Corridor External Affairs
Reports To: Director of Government Affairs
Summary of Position:
The BNP plays a leading role in the NY SMART-I Corridor’s Regional Tech Hub initiative, and is looking to add a skillful communicator to oversee the Tech Hub’s government relations and external affairs activity across the entire corridor. The individual will keep community stakeholders and government officials informed of the Tech Hub’s progress, needs, and opportunities. The individual will be responsible for identifying legislative, regulatory, and appropriations opportunities to strengthen the Tech Hub effort.
Core Responsibilities
- Coordinate external communications to key Tech Hub stakeholders across the entire NY SMART-I Corridor, including, but not limited to:
- Consortium members
- Elected officials
- Chamber and economic development organizations throughout corridor.
- Lead advocacy efforts for policy that promotes growth and competitiveness of the domestic semiconductor industry.
- Liaison with elected officials (federal, state, and local) across the corridor to support the mission of SMART-I Corridor.
- Identify new government funding opportunities/government programs to complement and enhance SMART-I Corridor initiatives.
- Lead, as necessary, SMART-I Corridor government affairs working group (pulling in staff from consortium members, etc.).
- Occasional travel as needed to Rochester, Syracuse, and Washington DC to collaborate with stakeholders and federal officials.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Demonstrated aptitude working in government, government relations, external affairs, or an adjacent field
- Excellent written communication skills
- Experience and comfort with lobbying government officials
Salary and Benefits
- $60,000-$65,000, commensurate with experience
- Health, dental, vision insurance
- Hybrid schedule with two remote days per week
